On June 6, 1967, the last operational skidder in British Columbia was retired by BC Forest Products.
The Washington steam skidder was originally purchased by Abernathy & Lougheed Logging Co. (1905 – 31) who operated in Haney. Industrial Timber Mills (1931 – 46) then purchased it in 1935 where it operated out of Camp 6.
The Cowichan Leader’s article provides a brief history of the unit, along with a great crew photo.
